I walked into City Hall this morning to purchase a TAP card. According to the website (http://taptogo.net/tap/locator/), it's the only location near my house. There is signage in the lobby indicating that bus passes, and whatnot, can be purchased at the cashiers office. I walked to office 106 of the North Wing and asked the clerk if I may purchase a TAP card. He handed me an brochure with an application for a Senior Discount Rate TAP Card.
"No, I just want a regular TAP card. The website says that you sell them."
He replied, "There's a phone number on that you can call," pointing to the tri-fold printed material.
"Okay. The website says that you sell them," I repeated because he had obviously been unable to hear me clearly the first time. He muted his microphone mounted to the glass window between us and yelled down the counter to someone. "Hey, you know what, um. Nevermind."
He turned his microphone back on and again indicated that the way to get a TAP card was to call the phone number included with the Senior Discount Rate TAP Card application.
Fantastic.
Oh, while I've got a good rant going, I should mention that the Siebel Web application running at https://secure.taptogo.net is quite possibly the worse commerce/customer service product I've ever seen. It's UI/UX is dripping with scalding hot lame sauce.
