The announcement of CFEclipse 1.4 Preview a while ago gave me a renewed sense of hope for sanity. Alas, it was not to be.

There is a bug in CFEclipse that drives me absolutely crazy. I like to format so-called "empty elements" or "self-closed tags" without the trailing space before the closing slash and angle bracket. However, there is a parsing bug in CFEclipse such that when entering an open parenthesis next to an existing slash, it jumps to the other side of the slash instead of inserting the character. It might be easier to understand the problem by watching it in action:

The problem has existed as far back as I can remember, and I've been using CFEclipse for a very long time. As a result, most mental health professionals would agree that I should be institutionalized for the safety of other CFML developers.
