I cancelled my Verizon land line service and dropped my Speakeasy DSL last week. I replaced it with an internet-only package from Time Warner Cable using RoadRunner. It saves me about $200 a month. If I could get DSL faster than 3 Mbps/768 kbps, I would have considered keeping it. My neighborhood was one of the first to get DSL, but it hasn't been upgraded in 10 years. The cable transfer speed is 10 Mbps/768 kbps. Friends I know with the same service have better reliability than one would expect. So, I'm perfectly satisfied right now.
I received an e-mail from them this morning with the subject "Your Time Warner Cable service installation is complete." Included in the message body is a link to sign up for paperless/electronic billing. Of course, that's what I want, so I followed the link... to a 404 page. I should probably cut them some slack; it's not like this inconvenience causes me great trouble. I just thought it was funny in a "look at their blunder -- glad I didn't do it" kind of way.
