The most offensive and deceptive marketing ever! Other superlatives, as well.

I went to Ross after work today in hopes of finding some jeans that were 1) cheap, 2) huge enough, and 3) not very lame. The brands that end up on the reject racks in Ross is interesting. It's a mix of famous labels and oddities. Hanging there were a pair of pants from a company called Kentucky Denim Co. I'd never heard of them, but their marketing message is "This Is An Authentic Kentucky Garment." Certainly, this would lead someone to believe that these pants were made by the good people of Kentucky. I have friends in Kentucky, and I'm aware of the state's history of amazing art and craft. The pants appeared to be quite nice, and the thought of supporting industry in Kentucky was romantic. As I usually do, I searched for the tag indicating country of origin/manufacture. For fuck's sake, they're made in China.

A few minutes ago, out of curiosity, I did a business search. Kentucky Jeans, Inc. does business as Kentucky Denim Co. They're owned by Liat Talasazan and located on S Santa Fe Ave. near E Olympic Blvd. in Los Angeles, CA.

"Blood, Sweat, and Denim"

Yeah, and bullshit.
