Operating System Trademark Paraphernalia

While I was waiting for the 154 Mb updater to download, I noticed something peculiar. Why does Adobe append a registered trademark character to Windows and Linux, an unregistered trademark on Solaris, and no trademark identifier on Mac OS X or AIX at all? That seems odd. So, I looked at Apple's list of trademarks, and sure enough they don't indicate explicitly that "Mac OS X" is a trademark, registered or otherwise. A registered trademark exists for "Mac OS" (oddly, not MacOS).

This all makes me wonder... Did the lawyers for Microsoft, Linus Torvalds, and Sun/Oracle contact Adobe and demand attribution? Did the staff at Adobe just follow a convention in their technical writing guidelines? I want to know!

Oh, my file is done downloading. Forget I mentioned it.
