My Adobe Rant of the Day

The Adobe Reader Updater popped up informing me of an update. Sure, why not? Knock yourself out, Adobe Reader. Oh, by the way, what happened to the Adobe Acrobat Reader product name? Nevermind.

Okay, so part of the way through the update, a Repair Setup dialog window appears. However, it cannot be brought to the foreground, and does not accept keyboard input. The main updater window has disabled the Cancel button, and the application does not respond to a polite quit. Awesome.

And now for an extra, bonus rant. I found the file ~/.tolb3755.bin on my machine. What's all this then? Have I picked up a root kit or some other nefarious binary? Nope, it's part of the Adobe ColdFusion Builder copy protection. I'll just go ahead and rename that to ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/ColdFusion Builder/license.data

You're welcome.
